Based on a short story by horror icon, Clive Barker, this 1992 supernatural horror is set in the Cabrini–Green public housing development in Chicago. The film follows a graduate student (Virginia Madsen) completing her thesis on urban legends. She stumbles upon the legendary "Candyman" (Tony Todd), an artist and son of a slave, who had his hand severed and was then murdered. Featuring a soundtrack by Philip Glass, this movie is considered by the American Film Institute one the most frightening films in American cinema.
