This wonderful coming-of-age biopic tells the story of Phiona Mutesi (Madina Nalwanga), a Ugandan girl living in a slum in Katwe who learns to play chess and becomes a Woman Candidate Master at the World Chess Olympiads. Directed by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding), this film stars David Oyelewo (Selma) and Oscar- winner, Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave).
