Art Workshop: Making Toys from Twigs with GreenThumb

A hands-on workshop for teachers, parents, and care-givers of elementary school children. Learn how to safely build an array of toys made from twigs the kids have gathered. Share your own ideas. You will build a toy in this workshop. Handouts will be provided with twig toy plans and a suggested tool list. In conjunction with the exhibition Plant Patterns, on view in the Arsenal Gallery through September 1, 2017.

Established in 1978, GreenThumb is proud to be the nation’s largest urban gardening program, assisting over 600 gardens and thousands of garden members throughout New York City as part of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. GreenThumb’s mission is to educate and support community gardens and urban farms in NYC, while preserving open space. By providing free materials and technical assistance, GreenThumb supports neighborhood volunteers who manage community gardens as active resources that strengthen communities.
