“Greed is good” is the mantra of ruthless corporate raider Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). Climbing the ladder of success is ambitious young broker Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen), who is taken under Gekko’s wing. Oliver Stone directed this drama of high finance, buying and selling, insider trading and securities fraud as a follow-up to the celebrated Platoon. A bullish Douglas won an Oscar as Best Actor for his effort, while Daryl Hannah won a Razzie as Worst Supporting Actress. The market crash of Black Monday (October 19, 1987) was only a few months before the film’s opening. (1987) 126 MIN. (R) (FOX)
