...is an expression associated with the setting for this year’s Historic House Trust gala, our premier fundraiser benefitting the HHT collection of houses, where we will salute our houses and the professional accomplishments of our distinguished honorees. Please join us for “Monday in the Park with HHT,” an enchanted lakeside soiree, our 2017 Founders Award Dinner on June 5th, 6:30 pm at the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park.
This year we are pleased to announce our co-honorees, Jan Hird Pokorny Associates and Dianne H. Pilgrim, who will be recognized for their dedication and commitment to the HHT mission and historic preservation in New York City.
Jan Hird Pokorny Associates is a full-service architecture firm specializing in historic preservation, established in 1946 by its namesake and former chairman, Jan Hird Pokorny. Since the late 1960s, the firm’s focus increasingly has been on architecture, planning and preservation for historic buildings and sites. Its portfolio of HHT houses includes Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, Edgar Allan Poe Cottage, Van Cortlandt House Museum, Merchant’s House Museum and Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum.
Dianne Pilgrim is the former director of the Cooper- Hewitt National Design Museum and the former curator of the Department of Decorative Arts at the Brooklyn Museum. In her tenure at Cooper-Hewitt, Dianne championed the idea that design has a profound and pervasive impact on daily life. She has served on the HHT Board of Directors and Directors’ Council from “minute one” in 1989, imparting her curatorial expertise and inspiring change through her dedication to making our houses inclusive to people of all abilities and disabilities.
