Come to Van Cortlandt House Museum for the inagural event in our new series "$5 Family Fun Day". This kick off event will focus on the lives of women in the 18th century. Not to worry, the menfolk of the family will find the presentations interesting too.
Presentations will be ongoing during the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and include washing clothes over a fire (outside weather permitting) and table top loom weaving. You'll also be able to see our wonderful doll's house up close, touch samples of the fabrics found throughout the house, try your hand a weaving on a reproduction loom, and make a print inspired by our colorful chintz bedhangings.
The program is hands-on and family participation is encouraged. A participation fee of $5 per family (up to 5 people per family) will help us cover the cost of supplies and other expenses for the day.
This program is made possible in part by The National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York and The Order of Colonial Lords of Manors in America. Van Cortlandt House Museum is owned by NYC Parks, operated by The National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, and is a member of The Historic House Trust of New York City.
$5 per family (up to 5 people per family.)
