Insects may be tiny, but their activity enlivens the garden with color, sound and movement. This summer, tag along with our visiting naturalists as they hunt for creatures that soar and sing above Wave Hill. Each special weekend begins with an insect-themed Family Art Project in the morning and continues with a nature walk in the afternoon.
Can you tell a dragonfly from a damselfly? Environmental educators from the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum offer a short, indoor presentation, then lead a family-friendly walk to net and identify some of these iridescent insects for a close-up look before they are released back to nature. Children ages 10 and older welcome with an adult. Wings over Wave Hill event.
This event is free with admission to the grounds, but. Since space is limited, registration is recommended, online or onsite at the Perkins Visitor Center.
