Join NYC DOT's Greenways and Brooklyn Greenway Initiative on a relaxed, family-friendly group ride to Rockaway Beach, traveling over the Jamaica Bay Greenway. Bring a bike lock, lunch money, MetroCard (if taking the train back), sun block, and water.
We will ride mostly along off-street paths or along bike lanes, but will occasionally ride with traffic. Planned breaks for water and restrooms on Boardwalk, at Jacob Riis Park, and lunch stop at the Rockaway Beach concessions, including Breezy's BBQ. Ride marshals will drop off the group at Beach 90th train station to take the subway back, or you can ride home on your own.
Meet at Brooklyn College, on Bedford Rd at Campus Rd. Get there by taking the 2,5 train to Brooklyn College or the Q train to Avenue H. (Or ride your bike!) First 20 riders to arrive receive a coupon for a free lemonade sponsored by Breezy's BBQ
