Spring migration is here! The Staten Island Museum, the Urban Park Rangers, and the Freshkills Park team are joining together to host a day of watching raptors at the top of Freshkills Park's north hill. With a 140ft elevation overlooking the beautiful wetlands of the William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge; this is the perfect spot to catch birds of prey returning to New York after the cold winter. Binoculars and site guides will be available, feel free to bring your own as well as cameras, bug spray, water, and snacks to enjoy the park. This event is open to all ages to learn a bit more about the beautiful birds calling the sky over Staten Island home.
Shuttles will bring you to the top of the north hill from Wild Avenue in the Travis neighborhood. The shuttle departs from 250 Wild Avenue, behind the Showplace Bowling Alley and just off of Victory Blvd. and the West Shore Expwy. The s62 bus runs down Victory Blvd, and is a short two block walk away from the meeting location.
You can catch the shuttle to the top of Freshkills Park's north hill from 250 Wild Ave. off of Victory Blvd. near the West Shore Expressway
