The garden will come alive with "Been Working So Long In The Wind and Storm," an exhibit of life-sized photographs documenting 30 years of urban agriculture at Hattie Carthan community garden. There will also be oral history interviews of Hattie Carthan community gardeners, a southern-themed food buffet, an antiracism roundtable discussion regarding the omission of faces of color in the local story of food and farming. After dark, the community will watch a movie chronicling the contributions of African Americans to farming in the working garden and contemplate our collective future. Plaques remembering our founding deceased gardeners will be raised alongside our ancestral prayers. A working agricultural timeline will hang in our contemplation space.
Exhibit will remain in garden for one year from installation date.
