Tennis/Racquet Sports

You may use any of Parks' recreational spaces, except tennis courts, without a permit. However, if a permit holder arrives with a valid permit in hand, you must vacate the field or court. An individual must have a season permit or single-play ticket to use Parks' tennis courts.

The Sportime Tennis Center is a concession offering 5 indoor hard courts, 5 indoor/outdoor hard courts, and 10 indoor/outdoor clay courts. Ten of its 20 courts (or 50 percent of available courts when courts are out of service for maintenance, repairs, etc.) are available to NYC Parks Tennis Permit holders during the outdoor permit season. Designated NYC Parks Courts:

  • To make reservations for designated NYC Parks courts, you must call in advance. No walk-ins are allowed.
  • 7:00am, 8:00am and 9:00am court reservations must be made by 8:00pm the night before, and reservations for courts from 10:00am on must be made no less than three (3) hours in advance. Court reservations are taken no more than 24 hours in advance, with a daily reservation limitation of one (1) hour for singles play, and two (2) hours for doubles play, although players may keep playing after their reserved times have ended if courts are available, upon confirming such availability with club staff.
  • All players using designated NYC Parks courts must affiliate with SPORTIME as an associate/non-member, and complete a waiver, prior to play. No Exceptions.
  • A reserved court is forfeited if the reserving player has not arrived by 10 minutes past the start time.

    The CityParks Corporate Tennis League features eight weeks of co-ed TeamTennis. The Spring, 2009 schedule will run from May 1st through June 26, 2009. Weekly matches are played in a fun, social atmosphere and all for a good cause: each company's registration donation goes to support CityParks Tennis, a free, citywide instructional program benefiting more than 7,500 children in over forty NYC parks. The full eight week schedule follows a TeamTennis format: one set each of men's and women's singles & doubles and one set of mixed doubles. Two divisions of play are offered - intermediate and advanced. A minimum of four players (two men and two women) is required for each team, although at least six players are recommended to allow for substitutions. There can be up to ten players on your team roster.
