Pilates is based on a series of core-strengthening exercises created by Joseph Pilates. These exercises use muscle control, breathing techniques, imagery and postural alignment to strengthen the entire body. The beginning Pilates Mat class is a thoughtful, non-threatening approach to these exercises and other movement. There is an emphasis on range of motion, as well as intensive work on abdominal muscles.

Body Conditioning on the Ball (formerly Stability Ball) uses the Physio-Ball to work on core strength, employing the Pilates vocabulary. The Ball is a fun full-body strengthening tool that provides flexibility and aerobic benefits. Bouncing, strengthening and stretching in this class is challenging and fun.
