First Saturdays of every month. Members of The New York Baroque Dance Company teach classes covering dance forms found in dance suites of the late 17th and 18th centuries. Live music accompanies every class. No previous experience required. This class is open to professional dancers, teachers, students, musicians, singers, actors, and dance enthusiasts. Expand your circle of friends as you meet new people and learn the proper way to offer a hand during the minuet or how to cut a caper in the jig!

African Dance

Learn traditional African dances, rhythms, and songs from Senegal and Guinea, West Africa. Class warm-up includes working on core strength, flexibility, stamina, and rhythmic sensibility. This is a multi-level class; advanced beginner level dancers and up.

Celebrating life, beauty and the power of culture, this open level dance class focuses on developing each participant's relationship to poly-rhythm and percussion. Haiti has one of the highest levels of African retention in the western hemisphere. The dance and music from this extremely complex and resilient country are rich with stories of perseverance, love, war and the connections/disconnections all human beings share with their environment.
