NYC Parks Completes Improvements in 110 Parks and Playgrounds in Underserved Neighborhoods

Through the Community Parks Initiative, NYC Parks has completed targeted physical improvements in 110 priority parks and playgrounds in underserved neighborhoods since the initiative's launch. Through this initiative we have repainted playground areas, handball courts, and basketball courts, replaced basketball nets damaged overtime, added accessible swings in select playgrounds, and replanted garden areas all around the city. 

Launched in 2014, the Community Parks Initiative, funded by Mayor de Blasio, brings greater resources to historically underserved parks in high-need neighborhoods. In addition to the targeted improvements, a $318-million investment will fund the redesign and reconstruction of 35 parks, enhance public programming at sites across the city, and support dedicated outreach staff to connect New Yorkers with their neighborhood parks.
