On Valentine’s Day weekend, celebrate your love of Central Park’s sculptures at Central Park Conservancy's fifth-annual free Ice Festival. Witness ice-carving artists from Okamoto Studio use electric chainsaws, chisels, and picks to transform more than 6,000 pounds of ice into a glistening replica of one of the park’s most beloved statues.

As night falls, revel among colorful lights as the Mall becomes a vibrant silent disco with live DJs, all to celebrate Central Park Conservancy's conservation efforts.

Schedule of activities

What is a silent disco?
It's a dance party with headphones; you choose the music. Starting at 5:00 p.m., two live DJs take the stage at the same time, playing the Top 40 hits, Funk and Soul. and your favorite NYC artists. You choose the channel with your favorite music genre and dance the night away. The glowing, color-coded headsets show which music other partygoers are listening to, so you can dance along with your friends.

What to wear?
Baby, it's cold outside! Dress warmly; the event is entirely outdoors.

More information about Central Park's Ice Festival
This event is free. Tickets are not required. Let us know you’re coming. Open to all ages. No bag/coat check available. Quiet Events requires an ID or credit card to check out a pair of headphones. The year 1619 marked the beginning of the slave trade in the Thirteen Colonies, but the first African American elected to office in the United States of America has been documented as early as 1768.

Despite slavery, prejudice and Jim Crow laws, America has seen numerous influential African American leaders who shaped the social, legal, and justice systems. Artists in this exhibition offer broad interpretations on the theme of African Americans in public service. America: The Legacy of African American Public Service celebrates noted government officials, as well as activists and members of the public who dedicated their lives to the greater good of the people.

This exhibition is presented by NYC Parks Ebony Society.

In 1799, a prosperous New York merchant named Archibald Gracie built a country house overlooking a bend in the East River, five miles north of the then-New York City limits. Little did he know that, more than 200 years later, his home would be serving as the official residence of the First Family of New York City - a place where history is made, not merely recorded.

As a historic house museum run by the Parks Department, sitting on 11 acres of grounds now known as Carl Schurz Park, Gracie Mansion has served as the home of 10 mayors, beginning first with Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia in 1942. Today, Gracie Mansion is occupied by the de Blasio family, which has opened its doors in the spirit of the administration's motto: one city, rising together. In keeping with that theme, Mayor de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray have introduced a new art installation, titled “Windows on the City: Looking Out at Gracie’s New York.” The installation consists of previously and newly acquired works, all from the original Gracie Mansion period, which have been curated to create a more historically accurate picture of life in New York City during the time of Gracie Mansion’s construction.

This exhibition is presented by NYC Parks Ebony Society.

This exhibition is presented by NYC Parks Ebony Society.

This exhibition is presented by NYC Parks Ebony Society.
