Located in the Park’s "Children’s Corner," the Carousel features 51 magnificently carved horses, a lion, a giraffe, a deer, and two dragon-pulled chariots. Carved in 1912 by Charles Carmel, one of the foremost carousel designers of the time, and restored by the Prospect Park Alliance in 1990, the Carousel promises that classic summertime amusement will be available for generations of fun. In addition, the Prospect Park Carousel is one of the few in the world that is wheelchair accessible.

Whether it’s your first walk or your hundredth visit, High Line Greeters help you discover a new side of the High Line.

The High Line Field Station is a mobile information cart, staffed by High Line Greeters, a group of knowledgeable volunteers who answer your questions and provide information about the park’s history, design, landscape, and more. The Field Station is also stocked with free resources, like monthly bloom lists, seasonal High Line Art maps, and information about upcoming free events and activities for the whole family.

The High Line Field Station is open Thursdays, from 1:00 – 7:00 PM, and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, between Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, September 29. The High Line Field Station will be open on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) from 1:00 – 7:00 PM.

Take a walking tour with a High Line Gardener to get an insider’s look at the park’s unique horticultural design, and learn what it takes to maintain a garden elevated above the streets of New York City.
Before your walking tour, enjoy lunch or a snack on the High Line. On the High Line between West 15th and West 16th Streets you will find tacos, gelato, ice pops, and more seasonal treats from our food vendors, as well as Terroir at The Porch, a full-service, open-air café serving beer, wine, and small plates with sweeping views of the Hudson River. Little Red’s Hood is a fresh retelling of the classic “Little Red Riding Hood” tale updated with a modern sensibility that will appeal to kids. The production features a dozen, hand-made marionettes crafted by the expert puppeteers from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre.

Like many of today’s children, Little Red is a smart, young city slicker who is too focused on her smartphone to notice her surroundings. Wulfric is a misunderstood wolf with a sweet tooth. When Little Red travels from New York City to the country to deliver some cupcakes to her Grandma, she encounters a colorful cast of characters as Wulfric the Wolf tries to head her off at the pass.

Little Red’s Hood is directed by Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre’s Artistic Director Bruce Cannon and written by Liam Hurley.

The CityParks PuppetMobile is the oldest continually operating company of its kind in the country, which presents free performances and puppet-making workshops in neighborhood parks, recreation centers and schools throughout New York City.

DigitalWorks NYC is a program for people ages 16 to 26 who are not employed or in school and are able to commit to spending 20 hours a week participating in the ten week program. DigitalWorks NYC teaches partipants about MS Office or Adobe CS6 and helps participants find jobs. Not only is it free, but participants receive a free laptop and a free one-year membership to city recreation centers.
