As part of Conference House Park's ongoing program Dunes, Drawing and Dendrology, a thematic series of free nature walks, talks, and art workshops, designed to encompass the various natural elements of Conference House Park and the surrounding environs, Sam Farag, founder of the Museum of Maritime Navigation and Communication will give an evening talk and discussion on the "Riding the Waves" exhibit that is currently on view in the Lenape Gallery at the Conference House Park Visitors Center.

Mr. Farag will discuss his collection of communication devices and navigation equipment which represents a fraction of over 500 nautical pieces that were used in the maritime industry of Staten Island.

All GreenThumb gardens under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation hold licenses that are set to expire on December 31, 2014.

This registration session will allow all GreenThumb gardens on city property to update their registration. Gardeners will only be able to sign new licenses once registration forms have been reviewed and all materials are complete including membership lists, open hours, and the general rules and requirements of joining and being an active member of the garden.

Membership lists must include at least 10 garden members with full contact information for primary contacts, including mailing or e-mail addresses for regular garden members.

Gardens must update their registration in order to remain in good standing (with no violations) to be eligible to receive supplies, assistance, and services.

NYC Parks is pleased to present the exhibition: “Native Ensemble: Artists Chronicle Staten Island’s Natural Spaces”, featuring local Staten Island artists that will run from February 13 – March 29, 2015, with an opening reception on Thursday, February 12th from 7-9 p.m. in the Lenape Gallery at the Conference House Park Visitor Center. The exhibition is curated by Sarah Yuster.

The eight artists featured in the show: David DiLillo, Ann Marie McDonnell, Michael McWeeney, Gail Middleton, Bill Murphy, Kristi Pfister, Melissa West and Sarah Yuster will present inspired 2-D and 3-D works created in a variety of art mediums that explore Staten Island’s natural elements and open spaces in conventional and unconventional techniques. Allusions to the human narrative in these works give way in an effort to shape the poetic and elusive concept of time and nature.

NYC Parks is pleased to present the exhibition: “Native Ensemble: Artists Chronicle Staten Island’s Natural Spaces”, featuring local Staten Island artists that will run from February 13 – March 29, 2015, with an opening reception on Thursday, February 12th from 7-9 p.m. in the Lenape Gallery at the Conference House Park Visitor Center. The exhibition is curated by Sarah Yuster.

The eight artists featured in the show: David DiLillo, Ann Marie McDonnell, Michael McWeeney, Gail Middleton, Bill Murphy, Kristi Pfister, Melissa West and Sarah Yuster will present inspired 2-D and 3-D works created in a variety of art mediums that explore Staten Island’s natural elements and open spaces in conventional and unconventional techniques. Allusions to the human narrative in these works give way in an effort to shape the poetic and elusive concept of time and nature.

Lenape Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. For additional information please contact Frank Gessner at (718) 227-1463.
