With our universal belief in athletics as a stepping stone for success, we feel that the Ocean Breeze Wave Runners can promote, develop, and empower our youth through physical training and mental discipline. Through hard work, motivation, and dedication, members will be able to achieve their goals and, ultimately, cultivate a foundation for a successful lifestyle. We believe, with these skills, the children of the Ocean Breeze Wave Runners Track Club will develop good practices and improve their character and confidence.

When teenagers Mike (Grant Cramer) and Debbie (Suzanne Snyder) see a comet crash outside their sleepy small town, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous aliens who look very much like circus clowns. They try to warn the local authorities, but everyone assumes their story is a prank. Meanwhile, the clowns set about harvesting and eating as many people as they can. It's not until they kidnap Debbie that Mike decides it's up to him to stop the clowns' bloody rampage. Rated PG-13.

Join NYC Parks and the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment for movies under the stars!

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters Frankenstein and his bride, the Mumm, a family of werewolves, and more can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis. Rated PG.

This animated feature from the creators of Toy Story shows us the life behind the scenes of things that go bump in the night. The big, blue, and fuzzy James P. Sullivan (Goodman) and his opinionated, one-eyed roommate Mike Wzowski (Crystal) are two professional “scare specialists”. Their job is to harness the energy created when they make little kids scream. This energy is bottled and keeps their society going. When they accidentally let a young girl named Boo into their world behind the closets and under the beds, it throws their life into chaos. Boo finds out that the monsters are more scared of her than she is of them. Paraphrase from Swank website.

Located along the esplanade leading up to the recently opened High Bridge, Oh Sit! 14 Sculptors Consider the Chair is a group exhibition of nine artists’ public artworks. In a frantic world, finding a chair can be almost impossible and settling comfortably into one can be an enormous satisfaction. Sitting in the wrong seat can cause anxiety and an even pain. Exhibiting artists Dan Bergman, Allan Cyprys, Robert Dell, Gregoire Ferland, Esther Grillo, Christina Jorge, Siena Gillann Porta, Herb Rosenberg and Chuck von Schmidt respond imaginatively to the notion of sitting or using a chair. Oh Sit! is framed as an imperative, a command—a way of asking the viewer to look and really consider the concept “chair” both objectively and subjectively.

Eight years ago, the city launched MillionTreesNYC with an ambitious goal: to plant and care for one million new trees across the city. The benefits to be gained were clear: improved air and water quality; reduced pollution from storm water runoff, flooding and erosion; and reduced energy costs, to name a few. But MillionTreesNYC is just the first step in enhancing and preserving New York City's urban forest. Tree care and stewardship are the next critical steps to ensuring the survival of our urban forest. Since 2007, we have come a long way towards reaching our goal of planting one million trees. We ask you now to continue the work that we've done together and to join us in meeting the next challenge to ensure a sustainable city.

The South Brooklyn Children's Garden, a community garden and urban farming cooperative on the Columbia Waterfront, will host its 4th Annual Harvest Festival, which is free and open to the public and brings together community members of all ages to celebrate the autumn harvest and the role of urban farming in sustainable agriculture.

Activities include a harvest pie contest, pumpkin patch, face painting, arts and crafts, live music and food from local restaurants.

One of the highlights of the festival is the harvest pie contest which brings together local bakers to vie for coveted prizes and bragging rights. Amateur bakers are invited to bring a homemade pie containing autumn harvest fruits or vegetables to be judged by a distinguished panel that will include representatives from GreenThumb and Food Bank for New York City as well as local community. The grand prize winner can choose either a free membership to the Garden for the 2016 season or a photography session from Erin Silber Photography, with second and third place winners receiving prizes donated by local merchants. All pies must be entered by 11:30 am, with judging taking place at 12:00 pm.

Starting last year on Alice Austen’s birthday, the Alice Austen House began a project documenting the grounds and waterfront from Austen’s home, Clear Comfort. Each day since then the house, grounds, and activities of the site have been documented, much like Alice Austen did over a hundred years ago. The museum will present an installation of nearly 200 snapshots capturing the daily life of this historic site and invite visitors to participate in the project.

Alice Austen Everyday is on view September 26 – December 30, 2015 and shown in conjunction with the museum’s 30th Anniversary exhibition “Becoming Clear Comfort: History of a Landmark," tracing the history of the house. Recently tagged images will also be on view, presented on an iPad in the gallery. Exhibition s on view during museum hours: Tuesday - Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm.

Be like Alice Austen: Upload images taken during the day to social media using the hashtag #aliceausteneveryday. Not on social media? Email photos with title, date, and name of photographer to info@aliceausten.org to be included in the project.

Cover Photo Contest: Submit a #aliceausteneveryday photo of the house and grounds of Clear Comfort to info@aliceausten.org by November 1, 2015. The selected winner’s photo will be used as the Alice Austen House’s Facebook Cover Photo.

All ages can enjoy a festive Halloween Fair on the Nethermead, featuring family-friendly activities, as well as sweet and savory treats from some of the city’s top food trucks. Mistaken identity leads to delightful mayhem in the Bard’s classic play about two sets of twins separated by stormy seas. When one pair dares to trespass into a foreign city to find the other, the comedy of errors begins and the long-lost brothers must overcome wrongful imprisonment, angry wives and hilarious confusion on their journey to a joyful reunion. This uproariously funny comedy will tour the five boroughs followed by a limited three-week engagement at The Public as part of The Mobile Shakespeare Unit, which strengthens community engagement with the arts by bringing free, world-class productions of Shakespeare to communities all across New York City.

Join Wave Hill’s 2015 Van Lier Visual Artist Fellows, Julian Chams andBeatrice Glow, during this artists talk in which each will discuss their creative process and the concepts behind their solo projects.

In the Sunroom, Chams works in the space between the personal and the systematic, creating assemblages of imagery that includes both natural and manmade elements. His exhibition, Maybe Like This, transforms the space into a captivating environment that includes soft sculptures made of printed cloth covered with sharp-focused photographs taken at sites recently and in the past, including Wave Hill’s grounds, upstate New York, Kansas, his native Colombia, and the United Kingdom.

Glow’s installation, Rhunhattan, converts the Sun Porch into a tearoom with sights and scents that reference the spice trade, which ushered in an era of globalization. Specifically, she highlights a land exchange that took place in 1667, when the Dutch, who sought to monopolize the Spice Islands, gave the English the island of Manhattan in exchange for Rhun, a much smaller island in present-day Indonesia. By framing this narrative in a settler-colonist lens, Glow brings to light an unsavory history with costs that still resonate today.
