Drifting in Daylight is a dreamy springtime pathway of art that winds through the world’s most iconic park. The multi-part art installation includes performative, participatory, and perceptual work by artists Spencer Finch, Alicia Framis, Nina Katchadourian, Ragnar Kjartansson, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, David Levine, Karyn Olivier, and Lauri Stallings + glo. These works include a soft-serve ice cream truck serving free cones containing ice cream the color of a Central Park sunset, a boat filled with musicians floating on the Harlem Meer, and actors quietly performing moments from iconic movie scenes shot in the park.

As the centerpiece of Central Park Conservancy’s 35th anniversary celebration, this free public exhibition aims to draw visitors into the park’s beautiful north end, much of which has been expertly restored by the Conservancy. The six-weekend show will tempt visitors to transcend their busy lives, losing themselves along a playful trail of sensory experiences.

Visit the Drifting in Daylight website for more information and a detailed map.

Wheelchair softball was born over 25 years ago in the Midwest by a few individuals with spinal cord injuries and lower extremity impairments, who still wanted to enjoy America's greatest pastime. These individuals needed to develop a way of playing that would allow easy maneuverability in a wheelchair and keep the fast pace of softball. Thus, a new game was born and played on hard surfaces, such as a parking lots, with a 16-inch softball, which allows wheelchair players to keep one hand one the wheelchair while catching a softball without a glove.

Henry IV, Part 1 depicts a span of history that begins with Hotspur's battle at Homildon in Northumberland against the Douglas late in 1402, and ends with the defeat of the rebels at Shrewsbury in the middle of 1403.

The mission of Hudson Warehouse is to present the classics in exciting productions inspired by our past and relevant to our present day. We want to educate the novice and enthrall the well-versed. We embrace the traditional and innovative, the classical and the modern classic. Through the dedication, passion and intelligence of all our theater artists, we bring these works to life. When our work elicits a true emotional response from an audience member, this experience reaffirms that theatre is a "ware" that is essential to daily life.

Academy Award nominee Sam Waterston (Newsroom, Law & Order, The Public’s King Lear) returns in The Tempest, Shakespeare’s classic about young love, old enemies and the eternal magic of storytelling. Exiled to a fantastical island, Prospero unleashes a churning storm to shipwreck the traitor brother who stole his throne and settle the score once and for all. But bitter revenge is upended by newfound love in this sublime masterpiece that proves we are all “such stuff as dreams are made on.” Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Romeo and Juliet, Our Lady of Kibeho, If/Then, Next to Normal) directs.

For a breath of fresh air, take your workouts outdoors. Parks are becoming a logical alternative environment for those who want to add variety to their work outs, or who just don't like the gym. And, it's an affordable way to increase physical activity opportunities, because there's nothing special to build.

Exercise with a view, in natural sunlight, with green scenery all around bestows health benefits that can’t be found indoors. Scientific studies have shown that the pleasure of being outdoors for example gives your brain, psyche, and immune system an extra boost.

School gardens are blooming all across the city! Teachers and schools aren’t always able to get out and see what’s growing in gardens in their own neighborhoods, or ones farther afield so here’s your opportunity.

Join us on a walking tour of school and community gardens in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. Come see and taste the early summer harvest, talk garden-curriculum connections, tour a community garden that hosts students from a neighboring school, and get connected to resources and support for gardens all over the city.

The group will meet at Bronx Academy of Letters (339 Morris Ave, Bronx) and will then travel to PS 154x and PS 43x/Wanaqua Community Garden. Please be aware that this tour will involve walking to a few sites within a 10 block radius, so please wear walking shoes.

Take a tour with Conservatory Garden staff and learn about the history of the only formal garden in Central Park, including its restoration by Central Park Conservancy, its classic design, glorious fountains, and six densely planted acres. Thousands of trees, shrubs, bulbs, perennials and annuals bloom throughout the seasons in this special place in Central Park. Route involves a few stairs.

Tours take place rain or shine, except in extreme weather conditions (heavy rain, sustained winds of 30mph or more, snowstorms, and a wind chill below 25 or heat index above 95 degrees).

Groups of seven or more must schedule a custom tour three weeks in advance at tours@centralparknyc.org.
