Hudson Warehouse presents The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Directed by Nicholas Martin-Smith

A farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personæ in order to escape burdensome social obligations. Working within the social conventions of late Victorian London, the play's major themes are the triviality with which it treats institutions as serious as marriage, and the resulting satire of Victorian ways.

The mission of Hudson Warehouse is to present the classics in exciting productions inspired by our past and relevant to our present day. We want to educate the novice and enthrall the well-versed. We embrace the traditional and innovative, the classical and the modern classic. Through the dedication, passion and intelligence of all our theater artists, we bring these works to life. When our work elicits a true emotional response from an audience member, this experience reaffirms that theatre is a "ware" that is essential to daily life.

Hamish Linklater and Tony® nominee Lily Rabe return to the Park this summer as the wise-cracking, would-be lovers Beatrice and Benedick in the beloved romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing. Central Park becomes sun-drenched Sicily at the turn of the last century, where the heat of summer ignites the fevered passions of lovesick ladies in corsets and pining gentlemen spying from the verandah. Three-time Tony winner Jack O’Brien directs this delightful skirmish of wit between two self-declared bachelors tricked by their mischief-making friends into falling in love against their will and in spite of their own hearts.

New York's most treasured summer tradition, Free Shakespeare in the Park, celebrates its 52nd season in Central Park's famous Delacorte Theater. Love and madness, laughter and tragedy combine for a uniquely thrilling season of exciting theater and exceptional performances under the stars. Join over 5 million people who have enjoyed The Public Theater's free performances and experience the heights of romance and the depths of duplicity in a setting unlike any other, in the heart of Manhattan.

Free tickets to the 2014 season will once again be distributed in the Park, online via the Virtual Ticketing Lottery, and in the five boroughs of New York City. For more info on getting tickets, visit the Shakespeare in the Park tickets page.

Remembering is both a collective and a personal activity. In this exhibition, both are on display in relation to two World’s Fairs that took place in Flushing, Queens in 1939/40 and 1964/65. Within this exhibition, collective memory is represented by shared experiences of the Fairs and personal memory by the memorabilia drawn from the collections of people who attended and fondly recall the Fairs. While these Fairs were global in scope, their attendees were overwhelmingly local, many residing in Queens. All items on display in the exhibition have either been donated or loaned to the Queens Historical Society by those residents of Queens who attended the Fairs.

SummerStage Kids presented by Disney presents Global Family Day, a day dedicated to engaging young audiences and their families through thrilling performances! Families will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops of circus arts, face painting and more!

As childhood friends growing up in Denver Colorado, Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing, The Okee Dokee Brothers, were always exploring the outdoors. Whether it was rafting down their neighborhood creek, taking long bike rides into the country or discovering hiking trails through the Rocky Mountains, Joe and Justin were born adventurers. Their extended canoe trip down the Mississippi River inspired their GRAMMY Award winning album Can You Canoe? (2013 Best Children's Album) and their trek along the Appalachian Trail is the subject of their forthcoming release, Through the Woods (available May 20, 2014). With songs written by campfire and harmonies born on the water, the natural world is at the heart of their Americana folk music.

Hybrid Movement Company is at the forefront of artistic evolution in the performance arts. Co-Founded in 2008 by Françoise Voranger and Jillian St.Germain, what began as a conversation of movement between professional performers has developed over the last five years into a form of physical expression unto its own. Hybrid Movement is a style influenced by the technical aspects of Circus, Ballet, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Bboying, Waving and Animation. HMC's core creative team,( Françoise Voranger, Jillian St.Germain, Ziporah Roney & Brandon Morales) celebrate unity and diversity through collaboration. Their unique and inspiring live performances have been presented at NY City Center, Lincoln Center, Bolshoi Theatre Russia, SummerStage, Hanover Theatre of the Performing Arts and more. Hybrid Movement Company is excited to present a new work "whYnot?" in collaboration with 'Fields' for SummerStage!

Shaun Parker & Company is an exhilarating and bold new Australian dance company that has exploded onto the international dance scene. The company creates critically acclaimed dance productions, which are renowned for their integration of stimulating choreographic forms, arresting musical scores and theatrical invention. Led by award winning Artistic Director and Choreographer Shaun Parker, his work is described as ‘so cutting edge it actually wanders off the edge of any single-word definition…’ The company will perform 'SPILL', an outdoor, site specific, highly physical and engaging live performance featuring four agile and charismatic performers who blaze a colorful trail across swings, slides, see-saws and round-a-bouts. Using existing children’s playground equipment as the set design, SPILL has been created specifically for public spaces, aiming to take storytelling through dance and physical expression to the heart of our local communities. Created by Artistic Director/Choreographer Shaun Parker and composer Nick Wales, SPILL was originally commissioned by DanceXchange and the International Dance Festival Birmingham as part of the London Cultural Olympiad’s Dancing with the Games.

Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone met at a circus in Afghanistan, were engaged while street performing in Scotland, and married in China. Performing under the name Acrobuffos, the duo has performed in over 20 countries, competed in international circus festivals, juggled on Letterman, starred on the Big Apple Circus, and were featured in The New York Times. Join them as they present Waterbombs! A hysterical water balloon gladiator show with comic antics, flying water balloons, and loud opera music. Using no words, Seth and Christina deliver a gut-busting, interactive show that has thrilled crowds in 18 countries. An audience and press favorite around the globe. Great for all ages!

National Dance Institute (NDI) was founded in 1976 by Jacques d’Amboise in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence. Each year, NDI transforms the lives of over 40,000 New York City public school children and their communities through weekly classes, short-term residencies, and public performances. Under the artistic direction of Ellen Weinstein and a staff of professional teaching artists, programs are offered to all children, transcending barriers of language, culture, and physical and cognitive challenges. Children learn to work together and develop personal standards of excellence, a pride of achievement, and a curiosity about the world that supports their success in school and in life. No child pays a penny for NDI’s core programs. Children who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment throughout their dance training are invited to join the organization’s most advanced troupe, the NDI Celebration Team, and perform year-round at venues that have included Symphony Space, Lincoln Center, Juilliard, City Center, the Kennedy Center, the White House and the Academy Awards. NDI dancers have toured internationally to Geneva, Switzerland; Venice, Italy; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Shanghai, China.

Rockaway!, a free public arts festival sponsored by the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy (JBRPC) to celebrate the reopening of Fort Tilden and recognize the ongoing recovery of the Rockaway peninsula, opens June 29 and continues through September 1, 2014. Invited by the Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA), an association of artists based in and around the Rockaways, and the JBRPC, MoMA PS1 has assisted and supported the conception of this festival.

One component of the festival is a group exhibition organized in collaboration with the Honolulu Biennial on the grounds of the newly restored Rockaway Beach Surf Club on Beach 87th Street in Rockaway Beach. Following Hurricane Sandy, the Surf Club was the one of the largest relief centers on the peninsula; their organization facilitated and directed over 5,000 volunteers, with major contributions from MoMA PS1. The exhibition celebrates the efforts of the Rockaway community of surfers and artists in rebuilding their neighborhood.

Neon Trees’ new album Pop Psychology on Island Records is an upbeat collection of sleek, modern alternative pop powered by singer-songwriter Tyler Glenn’s bright melodies, huge choruses, and witty lyrics about the challenges of finding love in the digital age. With disarming honesty, songs like ”Love In the 21st Century,” “Text Me In The Morning,” “I Love You, But I Hate Your Friends,” and first single “Sleeping With A Friend” cleverly capture the millennial concerns referenced in the titles and deliver them in impeccably shiny sonic packages, thanks to the band’s performances and production by Glenn’s long-time friend and songwriting collaborator Tim Pagnotta. Style-wise, Glenn feels that Pop Psychology blends sounds from the Provo, Utah-based quartet’s previous two albums, 2010’s guitar-pop-driven Habits and 2012’s electro-fueled New Wave- inspired Picture Show. “I think this is the first record where we combine both and really sound like Neon Trees throughout the entire album,” he says.

Songwriting has always been an emotional outlet for Glenn, who grew up next door to Chris Allen in Murrieta, Calif., and followed him to Provo when Allen moved there for college. Neon Trees honed their New Wave-tinged sound locally before being chosen to open for The Killers in 2008. Shortly after, they signed to Mercury Records and released Habits, which spawned the platinum- selling breakthrough single “Animal.” The track peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, No. 2 on the Rock Songs chart, and was featured on Glee. Its success led to multiple high-profile TV appearances, and tours with Thirty Seconds To Mars, Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, and Duran Duran. The band’s ascending profile smoothed the way for their next album, Picture Show, which debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and featured the platinum-selling Top 10 single “Everybody Talks,” which cemented Neon Trees as modern rock contenders.

Neon Trees are Tyler Glenn, Chris Allen, Elaine Bradley and Branden Campbell.
