The Randall’s Island Park Alliance, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, and Made Event are pleased to present FLOW, the annual summer art exhibit along the shoreline at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. FLOW is aimed at fostering appreciation of the shoreline through artistic expression, while calling visitors to interact with and care for the Park’s island environment. Each year, FLOW features five site specific projects by participants in the Bronx Museum’s Artists in the Marketplace (AIM) program for emerging artists.

Randall’s Island Park is a unique and remarkable waterfront resource, located in the East River with views of the Queens, Bronx and Manhattan shorelines. New waterfront pathways run along the 4.5-mile shoreline, which includes almost 9 acres of restored salt marsh and freshwater wetlands. The Park also offers a track & field stadium, a golf center, a 20-court tennis center and dozens of new playing fields, as well as the Harlem River Event Site, home of Made Event’s Electric Zoo, a three-day Labor Day weekend concert event at Randall’s Island which draws local and international DJ artists and audience.

FLOW.13 – this year's third annual exhibition – will be open to the public every day from June-November, and will feature five new site-specific installations, all reflecting and encouraging interaction with the Park’s history and environment. The five installations are located along the southern shoreline of Randall's Island Park.

FLOW is made possible through support from Made Event, proud producers of The Electric Zoo Festival, NYC’s largest electronic dance music festival, held annually at Randall’s Island Park.

The FLOW exhibitions express the confluence of art, music and environment at Randall’s Island Park, in the midst of one of the world’s greatest cities.

Inspired by historical homes, including those in the Bronx, Cara Lynch’s exhibition of prints and installations is a window into the world of intricate patterns from past centuries. House Work explores Lynch’s concern and interest in feminine identity and the home, much like the domestic craft work created by 18th and 19th century housewives. Going beyond simple ornamentation, her intensely hand-worked woodcuts clearly illustrate her belief in the purification of self through meditative labor—quietly expressing frustration, instability and obsession through intricate or repeating patterns influence by historic textiles, window dressings, and wallpaper.NYC Parks is pleased to announce the exhibition House Work, a series of prints and installations by Cara Lynch on view at the Poe Park Visitor Center through October 5, 2013. Go on a scavenger hunt for High Line Art, then create your own masterpiece inspired by New York City’s park in the sky.

With colorful plant life, interesting cityscape views, and site-specific art works, the High Line offers plenty of inspiration for young creative minds. During this weekly drop-in program during the months of July and August, kids and their caregivers are invited to experiment with painting and drawing techniques, and build one-of-a-kind vehicles, forts, structures, and machines with the Children’s Workyard Kit, a crate of kid-friendly planks, nuts, bolts, and other custom materials by industrial designer Cas Holman.

**Electric Zoo festival CANCELLED. Due to serious health risks, the Electric Zoo NY music festival on Randall's Island today has been cancelled.**

Hiking is the ultimate way to enjoy the outdoors and reduce stress. Regardless of the intensity level, it is a great way to burn calories and stay fit. Our Urban Park Ranger hiking guides will introduce you to the hidden gems of New York City and places often off limits to the general public. On our hikes, you may explore nature, discover our City’s rich history and diverse culture, or just unplug form the world to clear your head.

Hiking programs feature intensity levels ranging from light (a leisurely stroll on mostly paved paths), moderate (longer, faster paced hikes on rugged terrain), to vigorous (long distance, with hills and rugged terrain). For all hiking programs we recommend wearing comfortable shoes or boots, and packing water and a light snack.
