Set along the backdrop of the Hell Gate Bridge and the Urban Farm, the festival welcomes the park’s cherry blossoms with live music, performances, games, exhibitions, face painting and more, inspired by Japanese culture.

This year, in conjunction with the Cherry Blossom Festival, Randall's Island Park Alliance will host its annual FLOW Grand Opening, which features five new site-specific installations by artists, in partnership with the Bronx Museum’s Artist in the Marketplace program (AIM).

Catch-and-release fishing is a great way to get outdoors and discover nature just a few blocks from home.

Our experienced Rangers teach the ethics of fishing and the ecology of our waterways on every fishing program. You can try to hook a pumpkinseed sunfish, carp or chain pickerel. Whether you choose to grab a simple bamboo pole at a quiet lake or join more advanced saltwater programs, we have a program that fits your skill level.

All equipment is provided; this program is recommended for ages 8 years and older. Participation is first-come, first-served.

  • Nature on the Go!, 1–2 pm: Did you know 25 types of warblers stop at Prospect Park in May? Learn how to identify these cute and colorful birds on a bird walk. Participants will also create their own pair of binoculars and learn how to identify these colorful songbirds.
  • Nature’s Helpers, 2–3 pm: Did you know that trees help trees? After learning how mulch protects tree roots, spend time spreading wood chips around trees.
  • Family Bird Watching, 3–4 pm: After learning how to use binoculars, join our naturalists to identify some of the 250 species of birds that call Prospect Park home.

If you plan to visit with children under 10, we recommend visiting before 2 p.m. to take advantage of specially planned activities for younger children.

When school is out, Teen PASS offers FREE, exceptional clubs that focus on the areas of NYC Parks, arts, environmental science and sports that are tailored to the interests and talents of 6th - 8th graders. We create a safe space for young people to grow as scientists and artists, nature lovers and healthy individuals alongside our gifted staff.

Programs are held during weekday afternoons, select Saturdays and school holidays at Red Hook Recreation Center, Faber Park Field House and Westside Collaborative middle school. Check each individual site for specific program schedules.

The Bryant Park Jugglers use the park throughout the year. They are a friendly group and open to drop-ins, even if you catch them outside of the regular juggling lessons.
