The Woodlands Discovery Club for Families is the perfect adventure for families looking to get out of the house and explore a woodland without ever leaving the city. In each weekly two-hour session, families will learn together and connect with nature through hands-on science activities, using tools from your very own Discovery Kits!

Activities are correlated to state and national learning standards.

Bring your family and join Conservancy Discovery Guides and NYC Audubon Society on a guided walk. Learn how to spot our feathered neighbors who make their home in the park and their foreign cousins as they make their stop in Central Park during their annual migration. Witness firsthand how the Conservancy's work has made the park a sanctuary for these birds. Binoculars can be borrowed from the Dana Discovery Center.

Familes only, maximum of three children per parent or guardian; no groups. Ages 5+. Free, pre-registration not required but strongly preferred. Space is limited; arrive early for check in.

The Woodlands Discovery Club for Families is the perfect adventure for families looking to get out of the house and explore a woodland without ever leaving the city. In each weekly two-hour session, families will learn together and connect with nature through hands-on science activities, using tools from your very own Discovery Kits!

Activities are correlated to state and national learning standards.

This five-week program takes place Saturday mornings in the North Woods. There are two upcoming sessions currently open to families with children in grades 1-4:

In each weekly two-hour session, families will learn together and connect with nature through hands-on science activities, using tools from your very own Discovery Kits!

Activities are correlated to state and national learning standards.

This five-week program takes place Saturday mornings in the North Woods. There are two upcoming sessions currently open to families with children in grades 1-4:

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Discovery Pack, 12–4 pm
    The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families. In April, play Habitat Bingo, search for birds and design a home for one of the Park's many living things. In May, monitor the development of plants that supply food and shelter for birds in Prospect Park.
  • Bird Nerds Game Hour, 2 pm
    Test your knowledge of birds in this fun, mildly competitive hour of puzzles, Bingo, card games, and more!
  • Nature on the Go!, 3 pm
    An Alliance Naturalist will lead children and families to areas near the Audubon Center, where you can learn about the nature that is all around us and participate in a Citizen Science project.
  • Animal Encounter, 4 pm
