Watch classics and soon-to-be classics handpicked by NYC Parks' Arts, Culture & Fun series. All films are screened outside NYC's great outdoors and they're free!

Come sit back, relax and enjoy Grease, a classic that takes you back to the 1950's. This musical is sure going to make you get up and dance as they sing classic hits such as "Grease Lightning" "Hopelessly Devoted" and "Beauty School Dropout". The plot involves two high-school students who fall in love one summer. Unexpectedly they end up attending the same high school. Sweetheart Sandy Olsson doesn't realize that her summer love, Danny Zuko, is far from the gentle, senstive guy she met. Will Danny be willing to drop his tough-guy reputation? Will they be able to figure out how to make their love last in the midst of High School and all the drama that goes with it? Come join us for the timeless classic and find out!

This movie is shown on the rooftop of Tony Dapolito Recreation Center. Bring a blanket to sit on, and a picnic if you like. There are a limited number of chairs available. No alcohol.

Doors open one hour before the start of the screening. Space is limited and admission is on a first come-first served basis, so it's best to get there well before the screening starts. Please bring one form of ID with you.

The first film directed by a Saudi woman, Wadja tells the charming, poignant story of a 10-year-old girl who longs for a bicycle so she can race her best friend (a boy) and attain some measure of independence in a society whose restrictions on women begin early. Without a hint of didacticism or bitterness, this child’s tiny rebellion, ironically, leads her to compete in a Koran-reciting contest.

Complemented by Me and My Moulton, a Canadian, Oscar-nominated animated short, also about girls, their bikes, and the downside of growing up Norwegian and uber-hip.

Pre-screening performances at 7 p.m., films begins at sundown. The series is presented by Socrates and Film Forum, in collaboration with Rooftop Films. Now celebrating its 17th year, the festival features open-air cinema, music, dance, and food, held in the 5-acre waterfront park in Long Island City, Queens.

Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston are at their best in this neo-noir set in 1930s Los Angeles during the Water Wars. Jerry Goldsmith's music is brilliant and the screenplay by Robert Towne was Oscar-honored. Roman Polanski directs with great style and he also plays the nasty villain who gives Jack's private eye a nose job. Number 2 on AFI's list of the 10 Best Mystery Films.

“I cannot explain myself, I’m afraid, sir” said Alice, “because I’m not myself you see.” – Lewis Carroll. His Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. No one has done justice to the infinitely creepy quality of Carroll’s fantasy of childhood disorientation better than master Czech animator Jan Svankmajer. A live-action Alice encounters both animated animals (the White Rabbit looking like a taxidermist’s nightmare) and objects (have knee socks ever been so scary?) on her trip down the existential rabbit hole.

Please note: This film is not recommended for young children.
