In celebration of the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the World’s Fairs, Tomorrow’s World will include never before exhibited vintage images from the Parks Photo Archive and private collections that illustrate the dynamic evolution and conversion of a vast industrial wasteland into New York City's fourth largest park. The World’s Fairs propelled this transformation, while serving as defining social and cultural events for two generations. The show will also include memorabilia, as well as two zodiac animals from Paul Manship’s vandalized Armillary Sphere from the second fair.

Summer on the Hudson programming is free to the public. Seating is limited, unreserved, and available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 1-2 hours before the event. If there is heavy rain at the time of the event, the event will be cancelled. Up to the minute cancelation information will be posted on our twitter @summeronhuhdson and if the event is canceled the Parks calendar website will be updated to reflect that (about 2 hours before the event). The film will begin when it is dark enough to see the image on the screen which is dependent on the sunset, generally around 8:30pm. Seating will open at 6:30, and is first come first serve and people can reserve chairs for their friends once onsite. We put out chairs (about 250 of them) and they normally fill by 7:30 and ground seating is available in front and behind the chair section. Front ground seating is for blankets/butts on ground (the pier is hard made of pavers) & picnics are welcome if trash is disposed of properly. Dogs are welcome. People may bring their own chairs and place them behind our chairs on the dark pavers, if they choose to bring them. There is no seating or standing in the Southern aisle of the pier.

The stroll will highlight the history of the park, its sculptures, and architecture. The tour will end at the newly renovated Queens Museum where participants are welcome to come inside to explore the museum’s exhibitions.

This is one of two walks. The first walk is on Friday, July 25 from 11:00am-1:00pm.

The evening walk on August 7th will end at the Queens Museum were participants are welcome to stay and enjoy free live performances and an outdoor film screening as part of the Museum’s Summer Passport Thursdays program.

Transportation will be provided at the end of the walk to the Al Oerter Recreation Center. The group meets at the Al Oerter Recreation Center.

In celebration of the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the World’s Fairs, Tomorrow’s World will include never before exhibited vintage images from the Parks Photo Archive and private collections that illustrate the dynamic evolution and conversion of a vast industrial wasteland into New York City's fourth largest park. The World’s Fairs propelled this transformation, while serving as defining social and cultural events for two generations. The show will also include memorabilia, as well as two zodiac animals from Paul Manship’s vandalized Armillary Sphere from the second fair.

Summer on the Hudson programming is free to the public. Seating is limited, unreserved, and available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 1-2 hours before the event. If there is heavy rain at the time of the event, the event will be cancelled. Up to the minute cancelation information will be posted on our twitter @summeronhuhdson and if the event is canceled the Parks calendar website will be updated to reflect that (about 2 hours before the event). The film will begin when it is dark enough to see the image on the screen which is dependent on the sunset, generally around 8:30pm. Seating will open at 6:30, and is first come first serve and people can reserve chairs for their friends once onsite. We put out chairs (about 250 of them) and they normally fill by 7:30 and ground seating is available in front and behind the chair section. Front ground seating is for blankets/butts on ground (the pier is hard made of pavers) & picnics are welcome if trash is disposed of properly. Dogs are welcome. People may bring their own chairs and place them behind our chairs on the dark pavers, if they choose to bring them. There is no seating or standing in the Southern aisle of the pier

In celebration of the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the World’s Fairs, Tomorrow’s World will include never before exhibited vintage images from the Parks Photo Archive and private collections that illustrate the dynamic evolution and conversion of a vast industrial wasteland into New York City's fourth largest park. The World’s Fairs propelled this transformation, while serving as defining social and cultural events for two generations. The show will also include memorabilia, as well as two zodiac animals from Paul Manship’s vandalized Armillary Sphere from the second fair.
