Although our observable Universe is almost 14 billion years old, the basis for much of what we see today was laid in the first 400,000 years. In fact, the first tenth of the first second of the Universe was filled with some of the most violent conditions the Universe has ever seen!

Learn about the Universe’s dramatic origins in this talk by Jaclyn Avidon from the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York, as part of NYC Parks’ Dark Nights, Bright Lights series. After the lecture, telescopes will be set up for observing on the rooftop (weather permitting). Guests are welcome to bring their own binoculars and telescopes and set them up alongside the experts.

The event is free and open to the public.

About Dark Nights, Bright Lights

Dark Nights, Bright Lights is a new Arts, Culture & Fun series in partnership with the Amateur Astronomers Association. Look out for upcoming, stargazing events citywide on the Arts, Culture & Fun webpage.
