Remembering is both a collective and a personal activity. In this exhibition, both are on display in relation to two World’s Fairs that took place in Flushing, Queens in 1939/40 and 1964/65. While these Fairs were global in scope, their attendees were overwhelmingly local, many residing in Queens. All items on display in the exhibition have either been donated or loaned to the Queens Historical Society by those residents of Queens who attended the Fairs.

iPhones are today’s most popular camera. Like the former classic cameras that helped record family history, iPhone cameras can be used to express yourself artistically.

Unlike the previous classics, iPhones also offer a plethora of apps that can be used to enhance your images. The best apps will also be discussed and demonstrated. Instructor Joel Heffner will teach you the basics and divulge secrets to getting the most out of your iPhone. Bring your iPhone and be ready to make art while you learn!

Joel Heffner is an author, speaker, and photographer who has been taking pictures with everything from a pinhole camera to the latest iPhone and has been conducting photo workshops for 30 years.

Remembering is both a collective and a personal activity. In this exhibition, both are on display in relation to two World’s Fairs that took place in Flushing, Queens in 1939/40 and 1964/65. Within this exhibition, collective memory is represented by shared experiences of the Fairs and personal memory by the memorabilia drawn from the collections of people who attended and fondly recall the Fairs. While these Fairs were global in scope, their attendees were overwhelmingly local, many residing in Queens. All items on display in the exhibition have either been donated or loaned to the Queens Historical Society by those residents of Queens who attended the Fairs.
