You can raise chickens in New York City!

Visit our live chicken coop and learn about the benefits of raising your own flock in an urban setting. We have workshops suitable for all levels of experience. These workshops are free, so come on by to learn more, hold a chicken for the first time, and enjoy this unique green space in the heart of Brooklyn.

Schedule
Every 2nd Thursday, July - October
5:30 – Garden gates open
6:00 – Workshop begins
7:00-7:15 – Open House and Q&A with instructor

July 10 – Beginner: Introduction to Urban Chicken Keeping
August 14 – Advanced: Health Inspections and Solutions
September 11 – Beginner: Introduction to Urban Chicken Keeping
October 9** – Preparing Your Coop for Winter

In the main gallery, Recapturing the Scenic Wilds is inspired by Theodore Roosevelt, a former resident of Wave Hill who had a lifelong passion for discovering and collecting specimens for the public to appreciate. Exhibiting contemporary artists investigate the natural history display and what it says about our relationship to nature. In the Sunroom Project Space Van Lier Visual Artist Fellows Tammy Nguyen and Alexandra Phillips have created installations that they started during their Winter Workspace residency.
