The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District and presenting sponsor Time Warner will host the Sixteenth Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square – New York’s largest holiday festival!

The celebration begins with the lighting of the Upper West Side Holiday Tree in Dante Park at Broadway and 63rd Street, and continues along Broadway from Time Warner Center to 68th Street.

Join legendary artists, up-and-coming musicians, dancers, street performers, and more as they welcome the holiday season and light up the Upper West Side with an evening of music, food, dancing, and fun for everyone.

Lincoln Square’s sidewalks and public spaces will come alive with music, performers, processional groups, jugglers, stilt-walkers, and more, making for a festive fun-filled evening along the streets of this dynamic Upper West Side neighborhood.

Foodies and Holiday Cheer
Over 30 of Lincoln Square’s finest restaurants and eateries will offer food tastings at nominal cost ($1 - $4) at three separate outdoor locations from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Dozens of local stores and neighborhood institutions will host activities and holiday cheer throughout the evening.

Visit the Conference Room for a holiday photo (bring your own camera) and receive a free gift for children from Father Christmas himself. Listen to live holiday music on a walk-through of our festively decorated museum and new this year – a peek into Santa’s Study!

There will be candlelight Christmas markets in the colonial kitchen, with free hot apple cider and cookies and homemade baked goods from 18th century recipes sponsored by The Conference House Auxiliary.

There will be more holiday shopping in the Conference House Visitors Center which will feature the Staten Island Herb Society, handmade jewelry and ornaments, organic soaps and candles from the Tottenville Soap Company, hand painted glassware & more!

All proceeds benefit the Conference House Association – a Non-Profit organization with a goal of providing educational tours for all students. Donations of $3 or more welcome.

Come to the annual tree lighting and holiday celebration at Madison Square Park!

This year’s Mad. Sq. Holiday Tree decor is being designed by David Beahm Experiences and will feature beautiful and shimmery silver and gold decorations, echoing Mad. Sq. Art’s current sculptural exhibition, Fata Morgana, by artist Teresita Fernández. The countdown to the illumination of the Tree of Light begins at 4:45 p.m.

This festive celebration will feature a variety of seasonal activities including a candy cane reindeer craft activity, a winter tree identification activity with Mad. Sq. Park’s Gardener Steph, and plenty of performances including Sing for Hope Youth Chorus, Finding Neverland the Musical, The New York Life Singers, and our returning favorite kindie performer Audra Rox!

Last but not least, Taste of Home‘s Gingerbread Blvd. is coming back to Madison Square Park to help set the holiday mood. Neighborhood restaurants Hill Country Chicken and Almond will also be onsite serving delicious treats to the holiday crowds.

Food historian and author Peter G. Rose will discuss the history and life of Dutch Saint Nicholas as well as his transformation into Santa Clause during the 19th Century. Combining literature, history, art and religion, Rose will bridge tradition and modernity. The talk will include a demonstration of Dutch wooden cake boards as well as a discussion of holiday baked goods.
