The Highbridge Forest Crew works to remove invasive plants from the park and to care for recently planted native trees.

As part of the Forest Crew you will learn basic invasive and native plant identification, proper removal techniques and an overview of New York Restoration Project’s approach to urban reforestation. Anyone interested in forest ecology, invasive plant removal, and urban forests should join the Forest Crew in their work every Sunday morning.

New members must attend a training and orientation the first Sunday of every month.

Tours begin at the entrance to Pier 1 and are first-come, first-served. Space is limited, please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure a spot.

The garden crew will be meeting regularly to maintain and revitalize the ornamental and native plantings around Sherman Creek and Swindler Cove. As part of garden crew you will help redesign and plant garden beds as well as weed, water, and dead-head in existing gardens. If you want to learn more about planting, pruning, weed identification, and other horticultural techniques join the garden crew in their weekly workdays.
