Now, visitors can use the rustic trail to view native plantings that attract birds and other wildlife. Join our guides for this exclusive tour of the Hallett Nature Sanctuary, open to visitors only on Central Park Conservancy guided tours and during limited open hours.

The tour route involves wood-chipped trails and some hills. Tour starts and ends in front of the José Martí statue (Central Park South at Sixth Avenue)

Catalyst builds excitement around parks and waterfronts by connecting people to common goals and helping to build local leadership in strong park communities. We will bring resources and staff support over the next four years to Faber Park, Staten Island as well as Kaiser Park, Brooklyn, and East Harlem, Manhattan.

This festival will include recreational games, arts and crafts, educational programs, and Partnerships for Parks resources to help care for your park. Let’s bring the neighborhood together for a great cause and celebrate the exciting changes coming to these areas.

Spectacular landscapes and panoramic views await you.

Come to Freshkills Park for an opportunity to discover the trails and hills of the landfill-to-park project! We’re opening up the future North Park and miles of additional interior trails for walking, bicycling, jogging, and exploring this summer.

Kayak Staten Island will lead a free kayaking program from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Fresh Kill and Main Creek waterways, bicycles will be available for riding around the trails, and NYC Audubon will lead a nature hike near the creek. A bus to the scenic overlook will run throughout the day. Visitors are also encouraged to bring their own cameras to photograph the park in progress, pack a picnic, or purchase food and non-alcoholic beverages from event food trucks.

Shuttles into the site will run continuously from the parking area at Wild Avenue to the creek of North Park, and on a scheduled basis from St. George Ferry Terminal. Visitors, including bicycle riders and dog owners, can enter the site directly at 350 Wild Avenue and do not need to take a shuttle.

All ages. Free. The site will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last entrance at 3:30 p.m. Visit freshkillspark.org/event/discovery-day to find out more.

Join us this summer at the Wyckoff farmhouse for a natural dyeing workshop. This workshop is part of a series of six workshops for adults (and teens) in what we’re calling “creative homesteading”. Get your hands dirty in the garden, experiment with natural dyes, learn about herbal medicine, preserve your harvest, and more at the oldest house in New York!

Did you know your garden is already growing a wealth of materials that you can use to beautify other things? Come learn how to take the otherwise inedible plants in your garden and dye various fibers. We will use plant materials grown specifically for dyeing as well as less commonly used dye plants. This workshop will be an exploration of the potential and uses of natural materials.

Advance (free) registration is required. For more information and to register, please visit wyckoffmuseum.org/workshops.
