New Treatment: Tree Injection with insecticide-Stop the Advancement of the ALB in NYC
City, State, and Federal agencies are working together to eradicate the ALB from New York City. The United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets have established quarantine zones in Queens and Brooklyn. (PDF, 776 KB) The zones surround the infested areas from which the movement of wood is strictly regulated.
All infested trees must be removed immediately, the wood chipped and then burned. Infested trees are removed from private property by New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets at no cost to the property owner. Parks and Recreation removes all infested NYC park and street trees.
If you suspect infestation by ALB, call your borough forestry office or 311, the City Citizen Service Center. In Long Island call the USDA Amityville ALB Program office at (631)598-5943.
