New York City's parks provide more than eight million New Yorkers with an escape from their urban environment. They are places of beauty and tranquility, where individuals and families have the opportunity to absorb some of nature's benefits; they are places to listen to world famous orchestras and operas, and to participate in tennis, baseball, ice skating, and golf; and they are places for children and families to play in the sand, swim in the ocean or pool, or run around a track.

The Parks Department maintains about 29,000 acres of greenspace or 14% of New York City's total land area. The city's parkland includes 14 miles of beaches, 800 athletic fields, nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 550 tennis courts, 66 swimming pools and 30 recreation centers. We care for more than 1,200 monuments and 22 historic houses.

All these greenspaces and facilities add immensely to the quality of life in New York. We are dedicated to maintaining and improving these havens throughout the five boroughs, and we could use your help. Please join us in Supporting Your Park! Financial contributions are fully tax–deductable and will be earmarked for the property or facility of your choice. Contributions of $10,000 of more are recognized with appropriate signage.

Adopt–a–Park

Through Adopt–a–Park, small businesses, community groups, and civic–minded individuals provide financial support for the refurbishment and maintenance of New York City's greenspaces.

Adopt–a–Park is flexible to suit your needs, budget, and philanthropic goals! You can adopt a swing set, re–surface a basketball court, or enhance the horticulture in your local park. And that–s just the beginning of your options.

Adopt–a–Bench

What better way to enjoy a spring afternoon than on a bench in your favorite park? Provide a comfortable seat for your neighborhood while leaving the message of your choice behind for future generations to read and enjoy.

Donations beginning at $2500 will pay for the installation of a personalized message on a plaque for your favorite park bench. Our benches have been used for marriage proposals, memorials, birthday wishes, and miscellaneous manifestos. What do you want to say?
