Lower Manhattan Redevelopment
Lillian Wald Park| -between Montgomery and Morris The deteriorated park, which has been closed for years, will be completely reconstructed. The lower level will contain two basketball courts, two new handball courts, a fitness area, and a small amphitheater with ramp leading to the upper lever. The upper level will house a volleyball court surrounded by a seating and lunch area, with benches and picnic tables. The retaining walls will be replaced with stone and brick veneer walls. Ornamental steel fencing will enclose the new park, except for the chain link fencing around the handball courts. There will also be several expanded planting beds with shrubs, ground covers, and spring bulbs within the existing trees, which will be pruned and protected during construction. |
