Earth Day Rockaway Celebration

Raindate: Sunday, April 29th. Rockaway Waterfront Alliance and Parks & Recreation are hosting the 1st Annual Earth Day Rockaway. This event, which is open to the public, will take place along the beach at Beach 29th Street. Activities will include surf fishing, dinosaur dig on the beach, kite making/flying, sand sculpture, GPS workshops, "seining", water testing, nature walking to the piping plove sanctuary, spring planting for kids, and booths with environmental art and science projects for the family.
Directions from Manhattan: Take the A train (JFK/Far Rockaway) to Beach 36th Street. Take the exit at the side of the beach, and walk to Beach 35th Street. TUrn right (south) on Beach 35th Street and walk 1 1/2 blocks to the boardwalk. Turn left (east) and walk to Beach 29th Street. Takes approximately one hour from midtown Manhattan.
