for PaEach winter the trees on the Park Avenue malls are lit to honor the
memory of those who died in our nation's wars. The tradition began
in 1945 when Mrs. Stephen C. Clark lit the first trees as a memorial to
the men and women who died in World War II. The lighting of the trees
continues today because of the contributions The Fund receives from
many generous donors. Each year the trees are lit on the first Sunday in
December following a dedication ceremony, featuring carols, held outside the Brick Church
on Park Avenue at 91st Street.
Trees will be lit along Park Avenue from 96th to 54th streets through mid-January.
