Musicians from New York Philharmonic, America’s oldest symphony orchestra, perform Mozart’s lyrical Clarinet Quintet with the legendary Principal Clarinet Stanley Drucker, who was appointed by Leonard Bernstein and this season celebrates 60 incredible years with the Philharmonic.
In anticipation of the upcoming performances of the Philharmonic-commissioned New World Symphony by Dvořák, members of the orchestra present Dvořák’s American Quartet, illustrating the American influence on the Czech composer while he visited the United States at the end of the nineteenth century.
Hosted by Matias Tarnopolsky, Artistic Administrator of the New York Philharmonic.
*New York Now is a series of eight free concerts in Bryant Park by five of New York City’s most celebrated classical music organizations to highlight their upcoming 2008-2009 seasons.
