Join us for a marsh/beach/dune cleanup and planting at Plum Beach in Jamaica Bay. Volunteers are needed to help remove floatable debris and plant native coastal plants like beach plum, red cedar, pitch pine, and American beachgrass at this National Park Service site.
Meet at 10 a.m. at the parking lot just off the eastbound lane of the Belt Parkway between Knapp Street (exit 9) and Flatbush Avenue (exit 11). Bring lunch and old clothes, shoes, etc. We will provide water, bags, gloves, tools, plants, and free investment advice.
This is a cooperative effort between the National Park Service and the American Littoral Society, NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection, NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation, Bloomberg Company, NYC Audubon Society, NYC Sierra Club, Sebago Canoe & Kayak Club, Jamaica Bay EcoWatchers, as well as several school and community groups (TBA).
This project funded in part by grants from the NOAA-RAE Partnership and the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation.
