Volunteers Needed for Tree Stewarding in Forest Park, Queens!

Sunday, August 31, 2008

Please note: This event has already taken place. Please use the Browse and Search options on the right to find upcoming events.

As a result of the Million Trees Project in NYC, there are many baby trees that need attending to! Earth Day is teaming up with the NYC Parks Dept and Natural Resource Group to care for these baby trees. We're looking to make this an on-going event.

If you are interested in volunteering and would like more information, please send an email to earthdayny@gmail.com with your name, and number and "Tree Volunteer" in the subject. Please feel free to pass this message on to other groups and colleagues.

What we will do: Pull weeds and put down mulch around young trees, thus giving them a better chance at surviving the upcoming cold season. There is also a butterfly garden that may require a little weed pulling.

Dress comfortably. Better to wear long pants to keep from getting bit from mosquitoes or poison ivy. There won't be much poison ivy though, if any.

Wear sunblock and a hat.

Earth Day NY will be coordinating snacks and beverages for this event!
