This is a Limited Access Recreation Center.

All Recreation Centers (except the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Aquatic Center) will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2012. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. The Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Aquatic Center will be closed on Monday, May 28, 2012.

Computer Room: MM101 Introduction to Adobe Photoshop (English and Espanol) Mac

March 7, 2012 – June 22, 2012
     

We will cover the tools available in Adobe Photoshop, such as all selecting tools, cropping, rotating and flipping images, cloning, the use of the healing brush, dodging and burning an image, layers, channels, when to use quick masks, working with history and layer comps.

 

En ésta clase estudiaremos las herramientas de Adobe Photoshop. Aprenderás como hacer selecciones, cortar, rotar y voltear imágenes, clonar partes de imágenes, luz y contraste, trabajar con capas, canales de color, saber cuando utlizar técnicas más sofisticadas de selección, etc.

Do you own or are considering purchasing a digital camera but don't know how to use it? Learn to navigate camera functions, improve your photography technique, and upload and share your pictures online.

 

Students will also learn the fundamentals of using Adobe Photoshop to edit their photos.

Computer Room: MM105 Introduction to Print Design/DISEÑO GRÁFICO

March 6, 2012 – June 23, 2012
     Throughout several photographic assignments, students will document everyday designs and manipulate the photographs with the computer. An investigation of design elements such as concept, colour, contrast, perspective and typography will be applied to the images. Assignment will be to complete a journal with the theme of your choice.
A través de diferentes proyectos fotográficos, documentarás imágenes de la calle, del parque, gente caminando, etc. para manipularlas en la computadora. Haremos una investigación de conceptos, del color, del contraste, la perspectiva y el uso de tipografía para entender y modificar las imágenes. El proyecto final del curso será crear un diario con el tema de tu preferencia.

March 10, 2012 – June 18, 2012
     Our animation class exposes young future cartoonist and animators (9-17 years old) to using Adobe Flash as an animation tool. Working as a team our students will create an original cartoon as a group project. During the course of this class students will develop skills in Script writing, Character design, Storyboarding, Background design, Color theory and Storytelling as well as learning how to use Adobe Flash and Photoshop as a digital medium.

Shape Up NYC: Body Conditioning

This total body workout addresses muscle strength and endurance while keeping the heart rate up to burn calories and strengthen the cardio respiratory system. Continuous movement to great music makes it fun!
