All Recreation Centers (except the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Aquatic Center) will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2012. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. The Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Aquatic Center will be closed on Monday, May 28, 2012.

Multi-Purpose Room

     Dubbed "the dugout" for its Jackie Robinson-inspired artwork, the space also serves as a meeting place for tenant associations, community-based groups, and other not-for-profit organizations.

Afterschool Program

     This free Turn 2 Foundation-sponsored program runs during the school calendar year. The program offers music, visual arts, drama, literacy, social competency, computer courses, and sports and fitness opportunities to all registered participants.

Computer Room: RY105 Introduction to Audio Editing, Garage Band

March 8, 2012 – June 14, 2012
     This is an introductory course to Apple’s Garage Band program. By the end of the course, students will have a thorough knowledge of the program’s functions, and a general understanding of digital audio editing and mixing. In addition, students will lean some of foundational elements of music: specifically rhythm, melody, and harmony. By the end of the course, students will have completed 3 pieces of music – one remix, and two originals.

     Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program that is used to store, sort and efficiently crunch numbers. Accountants use Excel to keep track of transactions for their company. Students might use Excel to help draw conclusions from the data they gathered on a science project. No matter what you are using Excel for it is important that you have the basic knowledge required to do the everyday operations you will encounter while using this program.

Girls Instructional Basketball

     Instructor: Rashid Rozier

An ongoing learn-to-play basketball class designed to encourage girls ages 8-13 to participate in athletics. Children will learn the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, proper shooting form, passing, rebounding and defensive techniques.

Walk NYC

Walk NYC is a FREE program that encourages New Yorkers of all ages to get fit while enjoying the outdoors. With funding provided by Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Parks will staff locations throughout the city with trained walking instructors to lead one-hour walks (unless otherwise noted).
