Floating Pool

Along with the other New York City outdoor pools, our Floating Pool has closed for the season and will reopen in late June 2009. Please check this page in the spring for updated information.
The “Floating Pool Lady," a seven-lane pool on a barge, has arrived in Barretto Point Park in the Bronx and she’ll be staying through the summer.
Come swim in this unique public pool, with its beautiful view of New York City's waterfront. The freshwater Floating Pool features a pool house, locker rooms, bathrooms, and all the amenities of a standard pool, as well as a gangplank to take you from the land to the pool. The entire facility is ADA compliant.

Summer Pool Bus Route
While the Floating Pool is operating, the MTA will run buses from Prospect Avenue to Barretto Point, making frequent stops along the way.
Hours of Operation:
The service will operate 7 days a week on a regular schedule, with a bus every half hour. Standard $2 fare and transfer policies apply.
To Pool: 8:12 a.m. – 7:22 p.m.
From Pool: 8:30 a.m. – 7:42 p.m.
Route:
To Pool: Bus arrives at the west curb of Prospect Avenue at the far side of Westchester Avenue. It heads south on Prospect Avenue, west on East 156th Street, north on Union Avenue, northeast on Westchester Avenue, east on East 163rd Street, south on Hunts Point Avenue, west on Lafayette Avenue, south on Tiffany Street, east on Viele Avenue, and ends at Barretto Point Park.
From Pool: Bus departs from the south curb of Viele Avenue at Casanova Street at Barretto Point Park. It then heads east on Viele Avenue, north on Manida Street, west on East Bay Avenue, north on Tiffany Street, northeast on Barry Street, east on Lafayette Avenue, north on Hunts Point Avenue, west on East 163rd Street, southwest on Westchester Avenue, south on Prospect Avenue, and ends at Prospect Avenue Station.
