Snow Sculpture Contest

Thank you to all 2009 Snow Sculpture Contest participants and congratulations to our winners! We hope to see you at Winter Jam NYC 2010.

The 2009 Winter Jam Snow Sculpture Contest celebrates the spirit of winter and creative outdoor activities! Contestants are asked to use their imagination and create unique snow sculptures (for example: snow castles, snowmen, and igloos are all welcome). The winner of each round will be announced based on the creativity of their Snow Sculptures and will win exciting prizes.

Snow Sculpture Contest Pre-Registration

  • Everyone is welcome to register for the contest.
  • Due to space limitations, we are capping the total number of entries at 50 (up to 10 entries per round). Entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Snow Sculpture Contest Logistics

  • The contest will take place at the “Snow Field” area at Winter Jam in East River Park.
  • The contest will take place every hour from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (total of 5 rounds).
  • One winner will be selected at the end of each round.
  • After the winner has been announced, the Snow Sculpture will be turned back into snow to prepare for the next round.
  • Participants will have 30 to 45 minutes to build their Snow Sculpture. Judging will take place immediately after this time period has elapsed.
  • Up to five people are allowed to help build and create each snow sculpture entry.
  • As the event host, the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation reserves the right to refuse inappropriate Snow Sculpture designs. Applicants are encouraged to create positive, creative, and family friendly Snow Sculptures for the public’s enjoyment.
  • Parks will supply a limited number of props, but you should feel free to bring your own props to add to your snow sculpture.
