Parks newest multimedia exhibition, The Healing Nature of Art, explores themes of art and nature in the context of healing. All of the work included in this presentation was created by current students, faculty, and alumni from the School of Visual Arts' Art Therapy Department, as well as a sampling from their clients.
Art therapy is a method of treatment used in schools, clinics, medical facilities and mental health centers that uses art as a vehicle to explore individual problems and potentials. The School of Visual Arts has trained art therapists since 1977, through a blend of psychology, art, and art therapy coursework, as well as hundreds of hours of individual clinical internships.
