Intern

The Government Relations Division acts as a liaison between Parks and elected officials, primarily those in the City Council.  They prepare the Commissioner and other Park officials for hearings before the City Council.  They also refview legislation that impacts Parks and fields constituent inquiries from elected officals.  Government Relations also coordinates the Commissioner's annual meetings with Council Members and works with City Hall to get approval for elected officials to attend a variety of events.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern at Government Relations will help prepare information for City Council hearings including preparing charts, handouts, and collecting data.  He/She will respond to constituent inquiries from elected officials.  They will help to prepare presentations including using PowerPoint, district maps, etc.  Finally, they will preform general office duties and help in special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SPECIAL SKILLS/ AREAS OF STUDY

Applicants for this position must have excellent computer skills (GIS mapping skills would help) and an interest in City Government. 

This is an unpaid internship.
