- An order to
work (OTW) was issued for the reconstruction
of the bridal paths in Pelham Bay Park. The
project includes pavement, bridal path materials,
pruning and fertilization, drainage, and new
fencing and vegetative screening to shield riders
and horses from traffic on I-95. The construction
cost of the project is $366,700.
- Operations
Management and Planning (OMP) will conduct field
inspections of work orders to verify proper
completion.
- Brooklyn Operations
will begin an intensive five-day clean up of
Prospect Park Garage. The Operations staff will
prune perimeter trees, repair fences, clean
the parking lot, and reline parking spaces.
- Queens Borough
Commissioner Richard Murphy, Council Member
Audrey Pheffer, CB14 District Manager Jonathan
Gaska, and the President of the Tudor Village
Civic Association, Joseph Addabbo, help the
Rockaway Chamber of Commerce, Bell Harbor Garden
Club, the 100th Police Precinct Community
Council, and local FDNY personnel plant in the
Rockaway community. Over 4,000 bulbs were planted
at Beach Channel West, as part of the "Million
Daffodil" project. Two "v- shaped"
beds were created in the large grass area, located
at 128 Street and Beach Channel Drive.
- Daffodil Bulb Planting on Randalls & Wards Island Park continues with student volunteers from The Brearly and Chapin School. 100 juniors and seniors who regularly play athletics on Randall's Island will be planting over 3,000 daffodil bulbs today as part of the citywide memorial bulb planting project. more info
- The Greenstreets
will be supervising the planting of sites in
Brooklyn and the beginning of construction on
Donellan Square Greenstreet in upper Manhattan.

- Greenstreets stewardship coordinators will meet with community groups to explain Adopt a Greenstreet program.
- On Friday,
October 26, a Parks Enforcement Officer reported
that a truck struck the curb and hit a city
tree snapping it in half. The officer issued
a summons, and NYPD was notified. Forestry was
on the scene.
- Queens Borough Commissioner Murphy toured Kissena Park with Newsday reporter John Hanc. The article highlights the many sporting activities available in the park. Similar pieces have already appeared on Cunningham, Forest, and Alley Pond Parks.
