Halloween Party. Parks recruited volunteers
from NYC, ABC/Disney, ViaPACE, and Fairchild
Publications. The Great Halloween Party attracted
more than 30,000 festive New Yorkers on Saturday,

- In preparation
for the fall, Bronx borough crews aerate the
soccer fields on the Van Cortlandt Park parade
ground. Aeration helps reduce the stresses on
turf caused by compacted soil.
- The Parks Academy conducted the American Red Cross sponsored First Aid/Adult CPR course yesterday. All participants received certification upon completing the training and passing the test that followed.
- The contracts
monitoring division of Human Resources Administration
(HRA) reviews Work Experience Program (WEP)
case files at Litchfield Villa in Prospect Park.
- A PEP officer
summonsed a construction company for causing
major damage to a tree in Brooklyn.
- District 14
staff removed approximately 15 cubic yards of
debris from under the boardwalk in Rockaway,
Queens. Space underneath the boardwalk, from
113th Street to the 117th Street, was filled
with sand pushed from a front-end loader.
- Bid documents
are available for contractor pick-up for the
Reconstruction of the Queensgate Mall from 84th
Drive to 87th Avenue project. Bids are due from
contractors by November 27. The bid documents
are located at the Olmsted Center in Flushing
Meadows Corona Park, Flushing, New York 11368

- Today will
be the first meeting of the advisory committee
for the restoration of the Washington Square
Arch, including experts in marble restoration
and community leaders.
- The second shipment of 250,000 daffodil bulbs, donated by Rotterdam, arrives today at Five Boro on Randalls Island. more info>>

Operations completed a Training
Video for Small Equipment Maintenance on October
31. The video details the training course previously
delivered in person to thousands of Parks field
workers. Tapes will be distributed to all five
boroughs.
