- Bids are due from contractors at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 6 for the project to reconstruct the Bailey Fountain and surrounding landscape in Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn. The plaza is bordered by Flatbush Avenue, Eastern Parkway, and Prospect Park. Bids will be opened and reviewed by Management Services at the Olmsted Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens.
- Queens' District 7, borough-wide crews and the Forest Park Greenhouse removed a broken bluestone path and replanted it as a grass strip at MacNeil Park. The park is located on Poppenhusen Avenue opposite 119th Street in Queens.
- A Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) Officer in the Bronx reports that a goat with a severed head, a chicken and a guinea hen were unearthed under a powder outline 100 feet north of Van Cortlandt Park South. The items were photographed and disposed.
- A new exhibit titled George Washington's Days at Van Cortlandt House is currently on view at the Van Cortlandt House, located at Broadway and 246th Street in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The exhibit runs until March 17, 2002.
- The cold weather has arrived, and with it comes winter fun at Parks. There are plenty of activities to choose from, ranging from ice skating to snow days to free swimming lessons and more.
