TIME: 6:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Arsenal Gallery
Fifth Avenue and 64th Street, Third Floor

EVENT & PHOTO-OP: Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe will emcee the opening reception for the one-of-a-kind Wreath Interpretations Exhibit, now in its 22nd year. Central Park’s historic Arsenal Gallery will host the show, for which creative spirits of many professional creeds, including artists, landscape architects, and historic preservationists, have designed more than 25 non-traditional wreaths for the annual holiday exhibition. This year’s creative entries range from a silk-wrapped hubcap to a fluorescent tube modified with Plexiglas and galvanized steel.
DETAILS:
All of the wreath designs on display are made using unusual materials such as forged metal, paper cranes, and hammered metal. The exhibition is curated by Parks & Recreation Public Art Coordinator Patricia Hamilton.
The exhibition will be on display in the Arsenal Gallery from Wednesday, December 15 through Thursday, December 30, 2004. The gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed December 25, 2004).
