American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration
The AARPA is an organization of distinguished practitioners and scholars committed to the advancement of the park and recreation field. Through the Journal of Park and Recreation Administration and other projects (such as the Regional At-Risk Youth Colloquia), the Academy encourages scholarly efforts by both practitioners and educators to develop and enhance administration in the park, recreation, and leisure service fields.

The Central Park Conservancy is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1980 that manages Central Park in Partnership with City of New York/Parks and Recreation. Their official website offers an exciting virtual park tour with detailed maps of Central Park.

New York Botanical Garden
This National Historic Landmark has been recognized for its horticultural excellence, educational programs, and scientific research. Situated on 250 acres in the Bronx, it includes 27 outdoor gardens and plant collections, the nation's most beautiful Victorian conservatory and a 40-acre pre-settlement forest.

New York Road Runners Club
The NYRRC is the sponsoring organization of the New York City Marathon and other road races throughout the five boroughs.

The Treebranch Network and New York Today offer web site development and design for community groups. You can also fill out a simple form at NYToday for your site to be listed among New York Today's Community Groups list. Treebranch has a free electronic mailing list you can join to discuss with other residents issues relating to open space and greening in New York.

Trees New York
Trees New York (TNY) plants, preserves and cares for trees through crucial community-oriented and technical support services, education, training, desktop publishing, and advocacy efforts. The organization is active in the five boroughs of New York City and the surrounding region. TNY also runs a 12-hour tree care course that leads to certification by City of New York/Parks & Recreation as a citizen pruner.

Urban Parks
The Lila Wallace Readers Digest's Urban Parks Institute offer an interactive site with an "Ask the Expert" page where you can ask representatives questions about various issue relating to parks, such as securing business sponsorships and also general question. It is a valuable way to get perspective on your projects.

Waterways and Trailways
Waterways & Trailways supports citizen based conservation efforts and local initiatives to enhance, create and protect public access to parks, natural areas, waterways, and trails throughout the New York metropolitan area. We work side by side with local groups to produce on the ground results.

Wildlife Conservation Society
The Wildlife Conservation Society was founded in 1985 as the New York Zoological Society. WCS not only runs New York's zoos but is a world leader in conservation biology research and field study.
